Lesa’s Story, in her own words.
“For those of you that do not know, I wrecked my motorcycle Saturday. I was life flighted to a hospital in Jacksonville. I don’t remember much. I had a bedside traction to secure my broken femur until surgery could happen. Then, I had surgery to repair my broken femur. The doctor said that went well. Next surgery, didn’t go as well. I have a fractured pelvis. They tried performing surgery, but once they got in I bled so much they had to rush me to another department, give me 2 bags of blood, and place me on life support. When I woke up with a tube down my throat, I was not prepared for that. I thrashed around in bed, screamed but couldn’t, and genuinely thought I was going to die. They ended up doing an external fixative. I finally got the tube taken out and had the day to rest before my final surgery. Yesterday I had surgery to repair my fractured wrist. I did have to receive 1 bag of blood but only because my hemoglobin was low. Each and every nurse & doctor at this hospital have been top notch. Their bedside care is like no other. I appreciate them so much. I’m so glad I’m able to write this post. It means I’m alive. It means the power of prayer works. I’m so thankful to each and every one of you for your thoughts and prayers. Please keep them coming. I have a long 3-6 months of rehabilitation ahead of me. Fortunately, I have the best support system around ❤️.
