Hello! My name is Nicole Weyer and I am a 2018 graduate of Valley Heights High School. Throughout my time at Valley Heights I received many awards for my art work including a ‘Best of Show’ ribbon at the Kansas state art contest. I have always dreamt of being able to make a career doing what I love most. That’s why I plan on attending the University of Kansas this fall to study Graphic Design. However, my financial situation is getting in the way of that.
The Dream
For years I have known that KU is where I belong. Their design program and resources are some of the best in the country, but what really sets KU apart from other schools is their relationship with Hallmark. Hallmark is where I want to end up as a Designer/Illustrator, so it is an absolute must that I attend.
The Problem
I have been preparing since my sophomore year of high school, but there is one thing I knew would be an issue from the beginning. The cost of attendance. In just a few short weeks on August 12th2018 I will start my KU journey and move to Lawrence. I almost have the funds needed to complete my first semester, but in order to further my education, I will need your help.
Your Impact
The cost for my first year is about $26,000. In grants, federal loans, and scholarships, I have received $10,500. That leaves me with a fairly hefty gap. I have exhausted every resource trying to get scholarships, loans, and co-signers for those loans, but nothing has seemed to work out for me. That’s why I'm starting the fundraiser.
Any contribution you make will go directly towards the remaining cost of attendance. I need a total of $16,000 for the year that can be broken down as follows:
· Tuition 7,754
· Books/Supplies 538.00
· Room & Board 5,631.00
· Infrastructure Fees 45.00
· Loan Fees 34.00
· Transportation 946.00
· Food 594.00
· Required Campus Fees 458.00
