Help me get out of Homelessness
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sydney, and I am running this fundraiser in hopes of being able to buy my own apartment. Due to various factors outside of my control, I have been stuck living in homeless shelters in Berlin for the past 4 years, and forced to live in a single room with my mother and her boyfriend who are both alcoholics, using my share of the welfare and whatever else I have made on the side for their addictions. I've had to simply put up with it over the years to avoid having even more stress in my life.
My first attempt at getting a job led to me becoming the only source of income for my family, as it immediately removed welfare support from my family. After I lost that job, it took half a year for our welfare to come back, and in that time we lost the apartment we had. Since then the rest of my family has drifted away, with no ability to support me anymore.
I have tried many times to be hired for any sort of job again but to no avail. Hard labor is something I am unable to do either from heart complications that leave me with heart attacks nearly every day. Along with that, even if I do get a job, the room I am in costs too much rent to pay off during job training without welfare helping out. As well, the market for apartment renting in Berlin is a borderline lottery due to how many people are searching for apartments, yet how few are available to be rented. The shelters themselves are always in run-down conditions, maintenance being neglected, and little spare space to go around. The kitchens and bathrooms are also shared among the floors, leaving very little privacy and difficulty trying to cook anything for me.
All earnings from this fundraiser will be used to get me my own place to live and to furnish it, making it possible for me to move away from my family and the welfare program entirely so I can stand on my own two feet, as well as having money available for food and sudden expenses till I get a job or a training position.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and thanks to everyone that helps by donating or sharing from the bottom of my heart.
