Oneida Nation of the Thames water crisis help
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jake Young I’m a member of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nations with family ties to the Oneida Nation. As many of you have seen over the last couple days the Oneida Nation of the Thames (which is located only 20 mins outside of London Ontario) has declared a local state of emergency and have been asked to conserve water but what most people might not know is the Oneida Nation has been under a boil water advisory since 2019 so most if not every family on the reservation has to be extremely careful doing simple things like brushing their teeth, cooking, and pretty much anything that includes the water entering the body. I’ve seen over the last 2 days people getting together and bringing cases of water down to the Oneida community centre which is absolutely amazing to help out during the holidays and I hope people banned together and continue to do so but all that being said that will only lead to a short term solution. The money I’m raising is to go towards helping fund for a new infrastructure to provide safe and clean water to the Oneida community. I understand this is a stressful time for most people with the holidays but any donation towards this will help out tremendously!
