A bit of backstory as to why we have chosen to support MND Scotland and MindTheMen.

In 2000, Leif lost his Granda to Motor-neurone disease.
At the young age of 4, you would never think a little human, so novel to the world, could experience such grief from losing someone. That couldn’t be farther from the reality. His death affected me profoundly for several years. 15 to be precise. It was only around the age of 19 I only truly believe I started processing his death in a healthy way.
That’s the funny thing about death, it has many faces. It comes suddenly, it comes gradually, it can be painless, painful, and those affected by it most are the ones alive to see it.
Seeing first-hand the nature of a terminal, incurable, degenerative disease was too much for my young brain to comprehend, but knowing now the incredible support that was provided by charities and the hospice he spent his last days in is assuring and heartwarming.

Motor-neurone disease is currently incurable but fantastic advancements are being made to combat this horrible disease, and charities like MND Scotland need our help to continue their research and ability to support those affected by it.

MindtheMen community organisation started 5 years ago following the sad death of Grant MacDonald. His family felt that if there had been a place for men to go to and talk about their feelings and problems then Grant would still be with us. His legacy has meant that the club has helped hundreds of men over the years. Grant is remembered in their club logo #supportgranted.

MindtheMen meet once a week, on a Monday night and follow a routine of asking 5 questions. Our men know that they can talk, be listened to without judgement, and be helped by their peers. Also, the act of listening to others helps them too.
We also offer social events such as walking, cycling, bowling, cinema nights, paddle boarding, first aid classes, etc. We never charge the men for any activity that we organise or for club night. Your donation will help them to continue to support men who are contemplating suicide or suffer from depression or anxiety. There is no referral process, just turn up on the night.
