Vibes Against Triple

Donation protected
Cancer sucks. Sure, we all know this to be true; however, the verb "sucks" doesn't even begin to describe the emotions and feelings packed into this six-letter word when the disease is no longer a story told by a friend or acquaintance, and instead, becomes a part of your own blissful family's world. Our oldest sister, Ashley Avery, was recently diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. But instead of losing faith or succumbing to her fears of the unknown, Ashley has accepted this journey and exposed a strength unbeknownst to the majority of us who have never had to overcome such a life-altering obstacle.  She marches into each chemo treatment armed in crosses, bracelets laced with positive vibes, and sassy t-shirts that make the nurses giggle (not to mention, a purple wig for special occasions).

Regardless of having to go on medical-leave and move back to Michigan from North Carolina (and move in with our parents, lucky girl), Ash has remained positive and focused on giving everything she has to fight this disease. While she may feel emotionally supported by family and friends, she, unfortunately, does not have the same positive outlook for her financial situation. As a school teacher employed at a Catholic school, Ash already struggles to pay all of her bills. And while teaching may be the most rewarding job one could ever imagine, we all know it does not provide the most stable salary throughout the beginning years of the career. Furthermore, due to Ashley having to temporarily leave her teaching position and take medical leave throughout chemotherapy, the medical expenses have continued to add up.

Therefore, our family would love to ease some of this burden in order to allow for her to focus on what is important right now: staying strong and kicking butt. Ashley has a long road ahead of her; she will continue chemo throughout the summer, followed by several surgeries over the next year. We are asking that you help support this little fighter in any way that you can – prayers, keeping her in your thoughts, donating towards her medical expenses. Your prayers and generosity are sincerely appreciated.

Thank you for your love and support!
