Some of you may not be aware that our friend Vic Larico is in need of our help. On August 5th Vic was enjoying a long motorcycle ride on country roads with a friend when something went horribly wrong. It’s a bit unclear, into a slow curve, he recalls something about his foot dropping, but he went into the guardrail and has taken extensive damage to his body. Fortunately for Vic, far from civilization, the car behind him happened to be an EMT on his way home. He performed miracles on Vic that day, took control and saved his life.
At this time, Vic is in Mercy Hospital and has gone through several surgeries on his legs, pelvis and stitches to a chest wound to match the motorcycle’s windshield. A few days later, due to complications, they had to remove Vic’s right leg above the knee. He is a great prospect for prosthesis and moving to physical therapy as soon as his wounds heal and the pain subsides.
Vic is Vic. He is cheerful, positive and ready to get back into life. However, as you can see, his life will change. To complicate this matter, Vic was between jobs, and his hospitalization is with Cobra, leaving him with all costs and without income to balance.
This is why I started this page. I am reaching out to all of Vic’s friends, whether they be through his work in the industry, his motorcycle buddies, or a lifetime of friends. Whenever anyone needed help, Vic was always there, smiling and professional, never asking for anything in return. He needs our help now.
Let’s step up and help him now and for the future as this situation will take months to get back to any kind of norm. Vic will be back. He says with his new prosthetic, he will be able to play golf again. (Not sure how, as he didn’t golf that well before the accident.)

Update
Vic has been moved from Mercy off Ballas Rd to a SSM rehab unit to start his occupational and physical therapy. It is and will continue to be, a slow recovery period due the loss of the right leg and multiple fractures to his left leg and pelvis. It will be some time and healing before he will be able to apply any pressure to either leg. Vic is anticipating needing a skilled nursing facility for time to heal and keep up his therapies. He will also require some equipment – wheelchair, walker, etc.
Vic’s family is working with SSM rehab folks to get his home ready for his return. Ramps for the entry and bathroom and kitchen modifications are needed and are in the planning stage. Funds will play a large part in this progress.
His attitude is strong, and he is working hard to get back on his foot! He is very grateful for the help he is receiving from is friends. Thank you to all who have contributed
