Vicki Cochran Medical Benefit

Vicki is a lifetime resident of the Grand Rapids area. She is a 1975 graduate of Grand Rapids High school. Vicki proudly raised her sons Michael and Nicholas in the area and was active in their upbringing always being a supportive and loving mother. She is a proud and loving grandmother to Levi Claire and Zadoc.
Vicki worked at Miskovich Dental as a receptionist for 34 years. She would greet you with a smile and make you feel at ease. She them took her smile and friendly personality to the Sawmill Inn as a server in the Cedar's Dining room for 12 years until they closed in January of 2018. Until recently she could be found serving up her smile at the Forest Lake Restaurant in Grand Rapids.
In the fall of 2019, Vickie began experiencing some health issues. After qualifying for and obtaining health insurance, she was finally able to go to the doctor. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Uterine Cancer on January 10th of 2020. After 8 rounds of chemotherapy, Vicki recieved the good news that her uterine cancer was in remission early this year!! A follow up PET scan, however, revealed a few areas of concern. Vicki just found out that one area is cancer and is waiting for a procedure to determine if the mass found on her adrenal gland is malignant or benign.
This has been a very stressful time for Vicki and her family. We realize how trying 2020 was for everyone, with shut downs, layoffs and lessened income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The difference here is that Vicki experienced everything we were, all the while fighting cancer like a trooper!
Vicki has been unable to work since her diagnosis in early 2020. Despite having medical insurance, not everything is covered. Her medical bills have exceded $20.000 already, and of this writing, we are unsure of the prognosis and further treatments will entail.
A benefit is being planned for Saturday May 8th at the Blackberry Town Hall in Grand Rapids MN, from 4-7pm. A free will donation meal will be served, and a silent auction and bake sale are in the works as well!
All funds collected will go directly to Vicki to help offset medical and travel expenses as well as assisting with the cost of daily life. Every little bit will help out our beautiful friend and family member, Vicki Cochran. If you are unable to donate or attend the benefit, please keep Vicki and her family in your prayers, and send many healing vibes her way!!
