Vickie LaSalle

Hi, my name is William Wisner. I've started a GoFundMe for my sister, Vickie LaSalle, the toughest "little engine that could" to have ever played the game of life.

Everyone has troubles and difficulties, and she has been no different. Where she stands apart is in the example she has set for me as my sister with how she has always approached the obstacles that come along with being on this planet. Now she is in the fight of her life as the perfect storm of adversity is raining down upon her. The terrain ahead is uncertain, and the skies have dark clouds everywhere you look.

Vickie has no choice but to keep driving forward while scanning the clouds in those skies for that silver lining. That is where we come in. We need to be that silver lining and help her navigate through this battle and get her safely home.

Vickie has Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), which is often caused by a buildup of fatty, cholesterol-containing deposits (plaques) on artery walls. This process is called atherosclerosis. It reduces blood flow through the arteries. When this occurs in the arteries supplying blood to the limbs, it causes peripheral artery disease and is a terrifying situation for anyone.

Recently, Vickie broke her leg and had to have plates and screws put in to repair the damage. This isn't helpful for her condition with PAD. To make matters worse, the cast that was necessary after her surgery caused a sore underneath it that went untreated by medical staff despite Vickie bringing this to their attention repeatedly. This got out of control and landed her in the hospital.

During her stay in the hospital, yet another problem manifested as her body struggled to deal with all of the aforementioned problems. Due to the extreme stress her body was under, previously hidden heart issues started to surface. This is also a difficult situation.

The gravity of this situation is, of course, more than most could bear, but there she is, handling this challenge as she has handled every challenge. With courage and determination. She is blessed with a family that loves her dearly and friends that pray for her daily.

Although she is still in the midst of this battle, she has the upper hand and is making progress. The toll has been heavy, and the long-term cost will be high. Medical bills are never insignificant, and her main pillar of support, her husband Kevin, has taken leave from his job to be by her side and help bring her home.

I'm requesting assistance from everyone who knows Vickie, has experienced her wonderful spirit, and respects her resolve to combat the additional stressors that make this battle even more challenging. Every person who knows and loves her admires her indomitable resolve and has learned so much from her example. I'm asking you to return that gift by supporting her now in her time of need.

Thank you for your consideration. We will have a party and celebrate her victory once she has won this battle too.
