Vicky's Cancer Medical Bills

I am Vicky Kissinger Crosby, (aka Duchess Elspeth MacNaughton in the SCA) and for a good portion of my life (37 years) I taught Marine science at a High School in Florida, helping students from all sorts of backgrounds to become good scientists, thinkers, and thoughtful planetary  caretakers. Coming from a family of teachers, my siblings and I  were raised to help others in life's journey. When I retired in  2011, I looked forward to a well-earned retirement and some leisure time to spend with my hubby. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed in September of this year with stage two breast cancer. To add insult to injury, my health insurance through the school system changed to a new company in the middle of the diagnosis and treatment. Translation: I have been hit with two high deductible amounts in the space of one month, meaning I have a lot to pay for. The expenses have consumed our savings,  and my husband is a hard working veteran whose job cannot help with the medical expenses as those wages are geared for household expenses. I have been through surgery, and now face the next step which will be chemotherapy/radiation. Any money raised here will be used for the medical bills already engendered, as well as the future medical expenses. Having to worry about paying the household bills on top of chemo while being in pain from surgery is not something I ever anticipated. And no, I am not yet old enough for Medicare, so all expenses engendered  not covered by my insurance  become my responsibility. Time is of the essence as tomorrow I receive my next prognosis on this journey . I have never been in a position in my life where I have had to ask for financial help, having been independent and hard working from the time I graduated college. It would mean the world to me if my husband and I could have peace of mind about the medical bills while I marshal my strength to  fight this insidious enemy. I would be grateful for any help, as I know how hard we all work for our paychecks. My eternal thanks  and gratitude to all and any who can help out with this issue, as it truly is a matter of life and death.
