Victims of New Years Eve Black Summer Fires
Donation protected
Our parents lost everything to the New Year’s Eve Black Summer Fires in the year 2020.
They had only the mornings' notice that the fires were coming and were able to pack their cars with what they could and relocated their pets.
We lost part of our hometown of Cobargo, and tragically lost friends in our family community.
And after everything that was taken away from them, they found a builder who was employed to rebuild (Atomic 6) but the company took all of their insurance money and left them with nothing and disappeared overseas.
What was built was all substandard. The materials that were used were of sources unknown to the building industry and needed to be removed/taken down by my parents as required by council.
We share these horrific photos of the remains of our beloved family home after the fires along with photos of the mess which Atomic 6 left, to show you our heart break.
It has now been four and a half years and they are still living in a shed with no money to rebuild. They are both pensioners and are unable to obtain a loan at their age. They have no other means of raising the required funds to rebuild given their current situation. They have reached out to the government for support but unfortunately they have not been able to receive any support.
Our parents are obtaining valuable support from building supply companies. They are seeking support from other companies and trades and funds from some private donors, but it is very difficult and takes a lot of time with limited guarantee of a successful result. They are trying to be upbeat about rebuilding their house and their lives, but they are in desperate need of support and help. So please put your hearts out there and support our parents in this tragic time of need in any amount which you are able to provide.
