Victor C. Simoes Scholarship for the Future
Donation protected
This scholarship was founded by Victor Castillo Simoes, one year after graduating from Kings Park High School in 2005. Sadly, Victor passed away from an aortic dissection in May, 2021. He continued this scholarship and read every application up until his passing at the young age of 34. He was one of the most caring, intelligent, and generous individuals any of us have ever known.
Friends and family have come together to continue this scholarship in his name.
We hope to award the scholarship to students who are passionate and focused on achieving whatever their goals may be.
Victor accomplished an incredible amount in his short life. He graduated from Boston College, received an M.B.A. from Northwestern Kellogg and helped build two healthcare startups, Innoblative and Edge Surgical, seeking to improve cancer and orthopedic surgery outcomes respectively. Victor valued challenges, education and continuous learning. As he grew into his career he focused on the intersection of business, health and technology.
Victor devoted both his time and effort to others. He always sought to help people find their direction in life, whether that meant taking on his unofficial role of career counselor, volunteering, reviewing applications, resumes, or offering his general guidance. He had a lasting impact on others and their life path even after his passing.
Victor understood the importance of family, was a loyal friend and nurtured these relationships continuously. Once you became a friend, you were a friend for life, no matter the time or distance that stood between.
Victor was an avid traveler and has seen the world, visiting more than 30 countries in his short life, some with nothing but a backpack. He loved learning about other cultures, and seeing the beauty that this world has to offer. Despite his penchant for visiting far-flung places, he always returned home to his safe harbor of Northport / Kings Park, NY.
This scholarship lives on in Victor's honor, and is awarded to graduating seniors who seek to make a lasting impact as they enter college and beyond. We will be using the raised donations towards a scholarship for one deserving Kings Park High School Student this Spring 2023 and towards future scholarships for seniors in years to come.
