During this very difficult year, Kelly Vaskelis and her two daughters, Abbie and Madison, have experienced a tragic loss. On Wednesday October 21, Victor Vaskelis, beloved husband and father, passed away.
Nearly four years ago, Victor was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia (CLL). He suffered bouts of horrific and painful illness during that time. Sadly, in September he got word that his condition, despite treatment including oral chemotherapy, had worsened and his time was expiring. He could not bear the thought of putting his family through a drawn-out and painful ordeal. Even though he never wanted to leave his family, Victor decided to end things on his own terms.
While Kelly and the girls understand his reasoning, they would give anything for any extra days – one more hug, one more family dinner, one more holiday, and one more trip to Disneyland – whatever that time would cost. He was a quiet man, incredibly dedicated to his family, and loved them dearly.
The Vaskelis family is greatly loved by many in their community of Maple Valley, WA. Kelly has been a dedicated volunteer with Girl Scouts, heavily involved in the dance community, board member for Ensemble Ballet Theater, and employee for Tahoma School District. The girls, likewise, are equally involved in our community. For all that this family has given to our community, it's time to give back to them, and support them in this time of crisis.
On behalf of Kelly, we are asking for funds to help offset the cost of a memorial service for Victor. Together, we can accomplish so much. Kelly and the girls are so grateful for your love, prayers, and support.
