On may 1, 2019, Victoria Tampi Taylor was found in her home unresponsive after being treated for a flu diagnosis just 3 days prior. Once she was rushed to the emergency room, the doctors ran a battery of tests and she was found to have contracted malaria.  This had been untreated for more than 2 weeks, so the virus cause a debilitating decline of her liver and kidney functions and due to an excessively high fever, her brain functions began to decrease causing delirium.   She was moved to ICU as the physicians contacted the CDC for the only treatment available in the US. The medication was experimental and had to be flown in from Miami as it was her only chance of survival. At this point, she was given only a 15 to 20 percent chance of recovery.  Once the medication was administered, her organs slowly began to return to normal function, however,  recovery of her speech, brain and motor skills would take much longer. She began to recognize her family and friends  after about a week. She was then moved out of intensive care after 2 weeks to a normal room. When she began to talk and move her arms and hands, and could eat on her own, she was then transferred to an inpatient rehab center to receive physical and occupational therapy to restore her memory, vision and walking. The road has been long and trying, and a test of faith for her and all who love her. She is now doing much better.
This ordeal has left her and her family with mounting medical expenses from deductibles,  medications, hospitalization and rehab.  If you are able to assist in any way, please give however you are led to do so.  All love offerings, big and small are greatly appreciated.
