Victory Academy has been providing quality Christian education to children from Pre-school to 12th grade for over 21 years. The Academy is located in the small Southwest Missouri town of Seymour.
Victory Academy fosters a positive environment for students, yet has a strong academic program. Many students are accepted into colleges and universities with scholarship opportunities. Just last year, the average ACT score of Victory Academy’s seniors was 29 (a score above 24 is considered excellent with a 36 being the highest score possible). The Missouri state average score is 21.6. Many dual credit courses are available through Southwest Baptist University for the Academy’s high school students (for example: biology, chemistry, physics, college algebra, and calculus).
Students at the Academy are taught academic leadership skills and the importance of being a spiritual leader in the community. Students attend chapel twice a month and are responsible for portions of the service. Students complete community outreach projects each month, with many going on mission trips to foreign countries.
Victory Academy is blessed to have very committed teachers and staff members; these individuals feel they have been called by God to be a part of the students’ lives. The Academy’s teachers and staff are not just called by God to be a teacher, but feel they have been chosen to be a teacher or staff member specifically at Victory Academy. Victory Academy allows them the opportunity to provide one-on-one focus and mentor children in a Christian atmosphere that provides affordable private education. We all know teachers, whether in a public or private school, do not obtain a large salary. The average teacher’s salary at Victory Academy is $6,500 per year. Yes, you read that correctly, $6,500 per year. Due to some unexpected financial shortfalls, many of the devoted teachers and staff at Victory Academy have chosen to take a 50% pay cut in effort to help restore financial health to the school. Several have even offered to complete the rest of the school year without pay. How many teachers do you know willing to educate children without compensation?
The focus of this fundraiser isn’t necessarily only for the children of Victory Academy, although it will benefit them immensely. Now is the season to give! Please consider donating to Victory Academy to ensure these teachers can continue doing what they love in an environment conducive to growing students spiritually and academically.
