Hello all. I try to keep my private life private, but my pride has taken a beating, and I need help. The pic you see is my lower back. A pressure wound that was almost healed but opened in April as I spent too much time in my chair. We sold the house, divorce, and I needed to pack and clean before escrow closed. I looked for accessible housing since March to no avail. When escrow closed April 13th, I spent 4 nights in a hotel. The wound got worse. I went to the ER, spent 2 days in the hospital and then was moved to skilled nursing facility for 38 days, 10 of which insurance did not cover so I owe $345/day. I found a 1BR apartment, only to find out my chair doesn't fit in the bathroom and I can't reach the kitchen water faucet. I'm buying basic household supplies and groceries from Walmart, Target, and Safeway. Delivery fees are ugly. I've had to hire a caregiver service to try and keep my body clean, but no medical assistance. Home Health services have not started yet. Caregiver costs $35.50/hr with a 4 hour minimum shift, or $60/hr for a 2 hour minimum shift. I'm currently hemorrhaging cash. My daughters and their mom have been tremendous, but after a year+ they're tired and could use some relief. If you can help in any way, shape, or form...I would greatly appreciate it. It's 2:20a and I can't sleep. The stress of the wound getting infected and going septic is a real possibility. I need help, please.
