Vincent Cartwright Surgery Costs for Colon Cancer

Hi all, I am fundraising in efforts to raise money for my father's surgery costs. Vincent "Slim" Cartwright, who is also the last surviving brother of the well known "Pineapple Lady" Lady Di Thompson, was recently diagnosed with a very invasive form of colon cancer known as adenocarcinoma that is affecting his quality of life. My dad first fell ill in the year 2002. He was hospitalized after a near death experience due to a Pulmonary Embolism. My father is a now diabetic and is on blood thinners due to a genetic predisposition to having "thick blood".

He started to present symptoms of nausea, weakness, and anemia that suggested something was wrong in November 2021. It got progressively worse over the span of 5 months. He lost weight and said he did not feel like himself. We initially thought that these symptoms were side effects of his blood thinners but, that wasn't the case. We then concluded that there was internal bleeding but, could not identify the source of the bleed. After having multiple CT scans and blood transfusions done, doctors suggested that a colonoscopy be performed and here, we found a large OBSTRUCTING mass located in his ascending colon and it is actively bleeding. He looses more blood than the average person with an active bleed due to the blood thinners. My dad is finding it hard to do simple tasks (due to the effects of the colon cancer) and has very limited mobility to where is he almost bed ridden. We, the family, cannot do this alone. He is in URGENT need of surgery, for his quality of life seems to be on a steady decline. He may also need chemotherapy after the surgery is performed.

This has taken a tremendous toll on the family not only financially but mentally, physically and emotionally as well. Therefore any amount donated will be more than appreciated.
