Vincent Quilantan Funeral and Housing Momma Q

Donation protected
Quilantans have genetic pre-disposition to a VERY rare and SEVERELY FATAL form of Bipolar Disorder, with a strong history of co-morbid mental illnesses. My paternal grandfather committed suicide in the 1970's, my father committed suicide in 2006, and despite all our family's efforts to embrace advancements in behavioral health-- history has once again repeated itself for a third generation.

On Monday, September 18th, 2023– my dearly beloved brother Vincent Emilo Quilantan passed away at the age of 32. We are beyond devastated. We can only take solace in knowing that Vincent is with our late father again-- they are no longer suffering-in-silence and will be waiting for us together on the other side of life.

Like any working class people who lose an immediate bread-winning family member, we are in serious need of financial support. I am raising funds to immediately secure the upfront costs of permanently housing my mother AND to cover expenses for the dignified memorial service my brother deserves.

We could not have been less prepared for this. I was laid off back in June and moved back home to be with my family in North Texas just 3 days before the loss of my brother (due to a stagnant job market where I had been living in Denver). My mother is 61 years old, widowed, retired, and had been living with Vincent & his family for the last year as a full-time grandma.

With the loss of my brother, our family has decided to carry on according to the following course of action:

  • Vincent's mother-in-law has moved into the family home-- taking over the in-house grandma role to be with her grieving daughter.
  • I will be taking over my mother's housing and care going forward, so we can grieve together. Now that both my dad and brother are gone, I am all she has left. I am now her sole provider.
  • I am the most equipped (in both a practical and emotional sense) right now to plan my brother's memorial service.

My momma and I are currently being housed together temporarily in the spare room at my best friend's parents' home. I am pulling down every freelance gig I can right now, and actively pursuing job leads to return to full-time work ASAP. Obviously, I plan to provide my dear mother with the best possible quality of life-- starting with the sense of security that comes with permanent housing.

I know these are tough economic times for everyone, but your donations would be deeply appreciated and direly needed. I will be mailing Vincent's mass card to all contributors, along with thank-you notes hand-painted by me.

Thank you for your love and support. Thoughts and prayers are also appreciated, as my mother is a woman of faith. And don't forget to love your family hard and hold your people tight-- for us.
