Vinny Rubio

Our brother Vinny Rubio has been diagnosed with Glioblastoma (an aggressive, incurable brain cancer). Vinny is a devoted husband to his lovely wife Janet and together they expected to spend his retirement years traveling, hunting, and doting on their 8 grandchildren. Vinny has been a resident of Martin County Florida for 14 years. He is a long-standing and faithful member of the Church of Christ in Stuart, Florida.

He is a retired Firefighter of Boca Raton. He retired as a Driver Engineer. He spent 28 years saving lives as a firefighter and now needs help to save his life.

As stated this is an aggressive cancer that needs timely aggressive treatment as tumors grow back quickly. In October 2022 Vinny received the news that he had a brain tumor the size of an tangerine. Thankfully the surgeons acted quickly and successfully removed 95% of the tumor that this incurable cancer had formed. After surgery, radiation and while still on chemotherapy, we were rejoicing that the MRI showed no tumor but the doctors did warn us this is a fast growing cancer and another tumor would develop. Then 9 months later, a routine MRI showed a quarter size tumor. Once again, Vinny went under another risky brain surgery and the tumor has been removed. Unfortunately they cannot continue with the original chemotherapy treatment but have switched him to a different one that sadly no insurance companies will cover the cost for. It has now become difficult to keep up financially with the medical bills.

As some of you may know, there are various clinical trials afforded to patients with Glioblastoma as medical scientists scramble to find treatments to prolong life and possibly find a cure. Every time a patient enters a clinical trial, that patient represents all other patients with this devastating disease.

There are alternative options outside of the USA that the doctors agree Vinny would benefit from. One in particular is a very promising treatment in Germany which Vinny is awaiting approval for. Vinny would like to pursue this treatment in hopes to not only help his own situation but also for the many others who have been diagnosed with this horrific disease.

Again, Vinny spent his life saving lives. He needs help now saving his own. In order to receive the best care, he needs funds for treatment and travel to help ensure him more time with his loved ones.
Please consider supporting Vinny and his family in this fight. If you cannot contribute monetarily, please commit to lifting Vinny in prayer daily and also share this with others who may be able to help.
This is not only hope for one family but hope for every family struggling with this disease.
