Vinny's Fight Against Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Earlier this year, at the age of 74, my father Vincenzo (Vinny) Salluzzo was experiencing dizziness, double vision, weight loss and extreme exhaustion. On March 14th, a biopsy revealed a malignant and inoperable Glioblastoma (brain tumor). The neurosurgeon said that he had less than a year to live. Two days after the biopsy, my father was brought to the emergency room at
St. Mary's Hospital because he couldn't breathe. After a weeks stay, he was transferred to Albany Medical Center where he began radiation and chemotherapy treatments while trying to regain strength and the ability to walk on his own.
Before my father became ill, he was strong-willed and independent; spending retirement training his two horses Ellie and Baby; his pride and joy. Now, he suffers from profound vertigo, lethargy and short term memory loss due to the effects of the tumor. Not only has this torn him from his horses, but it has also turned simple, daily tasks into tribulations. At this point in time, he is no longer safe in his home alone. With insurance covering a very small amount of home care, we are struggling to pay for care ourselves. Copays from the hospital stay are incredibly high and many of his medications are not covered. One medication even has a copay of $1000. My father and I have been unable to pay for all of these needs.
I decided to start this go fund me campaign to ask my friends, family, and community for help; for me, but more importantly, for my father. Any donation - no matter how small - will be such a huge help to us. We are extremely grateful to anyone who reads this, donates, or helps us spread the word. Thank you all so much!
