Violas' Journey - Battling Cancer

Hello dear friends and family. This is Rebekah, Violas' eldest daughter.

In my wildest dreams this is not something I ever imagined having to write. Alas, here we are in this whirlwind of emotions and continued talk of cancer and where to go from here.

Just before Christmas my mamma found quite a large lump in one of her breasts. What we prayed would be something simple (like a lymphatic flow issue) quickly turned into Stage 4 cancer. After receiving a PET scan recently it has shown that the cancer has spread from the breast into the lymph, as well as a lesion on her liver.

Asking for help in this capacity is never an easy thing to do. It is humbling in ways that are hard to describe and yet I know so many of you have been in situations similar to ours that require outside support, prayers and financing.

The reality of the situation is that none of us have the financial ability to afford all of moms treatments despite our best efforts thus far. So here I am, asking for your help.

The beauty of times like these are the continued learning moments. Dying to one's self and being vulnerable brings a new kind of growth and healing that is not often expected in times of pain and sadness.

Viola has been an absolute rock star throughout this entire experience. She is positive, kind, and so loving to all of us as we navigate our own emotions around it all. Her unwavering faith in the Lord is beautiful and astounding to watch. Especially in the moments that I find myself hopeless and in absolute fear of losing one of the most important people in my life. There she is, living her faith out in the most authentic way.
