Violet & Kate go to the World Bench Press Champs
Donation protected
Kate and Violet are a mother/daughter duo who have both made Team GB for powerlifting.
Violet is a 15 year old sub-junior (under 18) powerlifter competing in the U52kg weight class. She has only been powerlifting for a year, and has already managed to break all of the YNE (Yorkshire and the North East) regional records.
Violet won first place at the Bench Press National Championships, and extended her YNE bench press record.
As a result Violet has been given a place in Team GB and has the chance to compete internationally.
The chance to participate in the World Bench Press Championships in South Africa is an amazing opportunity for Violet and we know she will give it everything and make everyone proud.
Kate is Violet mum. She needs to go to South Africa with Vioelt in order for her to compete.
Additionally, Kate is also a powerlifter who has gained a place in the GB Bench Press Team as an M1 (39+) powerlifter competing in the U52kg weight class. She has been powerlifting for years and holds all the current YNE regional M1 <52kg records. Kate is the secretary of the YNEPF, and a divisional referee. She works numerous voluntary hours for the sport and has helped countless lifters without hesitation.
Kate recently won first place at the Bench Press National Championships in both the M1 and Open catagories. Kate increased her YNE M1 bench press record.
As the British Bench Press Championships were held in Newcastle, Kate prepared for the competition whist helping to organise the event. She competed whilst working in her role as secretary and was straight back to volunteering once she had finished lifting.
Kate, being given a place in Team GB, also has the chance to compete internationally at the World Bench Press Championships in South Africa.
Competing for Team GB has been a long standing dream of Kates and we all know how much this means to her.
She will undoubtedly give everything to this competition while also making sure Violet has everything she needs.
This fund raising will help Kate and Violet to fulfil their dream of competing for Team GB.
Sadly, Team Great Britain is currently unable to finance the travel of its athletes to international competitions. As such, we are hoping to raise the funds for travel and accommodation through crowd funding. Any donation at all will be extremely gratefully received.
The competition is in South Africa in 8 weeks. Kate will compete on the 20th May and Violet will compete on the 22nd May 2023. A live stream of the event will be available.
Thank you.
