Virginia "Virgie" Mercado a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She and her husband Gil have been together since high school and she had a love for her family and life that is beyond describable. She selflessly made every decision in what was best for her family. She loved and accepted everyone and was always willing to open her home or lend and hand. She loved music, crafts, but most importantly spending time with family and friends. To say we are devastated she has had to endure all this suffering, is an understatement.

Virgie became ill on her birthday July 25, 2019, with what she thought was a common cold. Despite doctor visits and reassurance, her cough did not improve. This continued until August 27, 2019, when she was rushed to the hospital and was diagnosed with stage 4 Gallbladder Carcinoma. This began a treacherous journey of several hospitalizations and a rapid decline in her health. Although we knew her type of cancer was not curable, we were given hope that she would improve and possibly go into remission. She underwent  several chemotherapy treatments and she seemed to be improving each time; however, Virginia experienced a small seizure, which landed her in the hospital and it was discovered that the cancer had metastasized to her brain. Doctors immediately prescribed radiation to decrease the size of the brain tumors. Between her hospital discharge and the day of  Thanksgiving, she was starting develop weakness on the right side of her body.  The following day she was admitted to the hospital for the last time. Her and her family were informed that the tumors in her brain had increased in size, and that it was best to take Virginia home, under hospice care and spend her final days in comfort with her family. Virginia arrived home on December 3, 2019, she was unresponsive, and fought relentlessly until taking her last breath of life on December 10, 2019.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, whom she loved dearly. Trying to adjust to manage finances while at the same time having to find funds for funeral arrangements had been difficult and with your help, Virginia's family may focus sole attention on comforting one another.
