VISIONARY is a dark comedy that asks the question: how far will an artist go for their art? And is it really about art, or is it about ego?

 

From Director, Christine Santora and Writer/Producer, Olivia Mayberry, comes a new dark comedy short. In VISIONARY, a renowned Director with a reputation for garnering Oscar nominations, pushes her lead actor to deliver his most authentic performance, with grievous consequences.

 

From slaughtering a live donkey on set, to 127 takes of a scene with a baseball bat, there are many stories of the absurd, uncalled for, and sometimes horrible things a director imposes upon an actor. The greater the talent, the more extreme it seems. And with actors it’s no different. Truly embodying their character – even if it means sleeping in an animal carcass – is critical, otherwise the performance is a lie.

 

This women-led satire seeks to highlight the absurdity of what we’re collectively willing to put ourselves through to make great art.

Christine's 2020 short film Ladies Room was officially selected by Hollyshorts, Hollywood Comedy Shorts, Indie Short Fest, The Bermuda International Film Festival, and named a Vimeo Staff Pick. Olivia’s feature-length script– GET A LIFE– placed in the top 10% of the Academy Nicholl Fellowship, Top 100 of the Launchpad Feature competition and Top 10 of the Australian International Screenwriting Awards.
