Tools for Vista Hermosa Farm

Tools for Vista Hermosa Farm Project.

About Us

Hi! We are Olesya Ginzburg and Guy Granovsky. We are creative thinkers, educators, permaculture enthusiasts, and advocates of sustainable life style. We are currently directing a non-profit organization called Vista Hermosa Farm Project  in rural Costa Rica. Our goal is to teach people The Grow Biointensive   method which is all about building the soil and growing your own food on a small piece of land with maximum efficiency and minimum resources invested. And we need your help

How you can help

One of the very important phases of our project includes some construction at the farm. We plan to build the barn, the tool shed, the nursery and a green house, the compost shed and the chicken coup. We are going to build all these structures with our own hands and with the most earth-conscious materials possible. To do all that we need tools. With the right set of tools we can build independently, and any volunteer will have an opportunity to participate in the construction. You can help us to achieve this goal by donating and sharing this link. Help us spread the word!

What your money will be spent on

Approximately 60 percent of the funds will be spent on tools and 40 percent on lumber and other materials. Here is a sample list of the tools we need now: circular saw, hand saws, jigsaw, power drill, orbit saw, miter saw, rasps, files, chisels, wooden mallet, screwdrivers, level, caliper, clamps, ladders, post hole digger, steel tamper, sawhorses, etc.

The backstory

Back in New York City some time ago we had a “regular” life with nine to five work hours, days filled with long commute, rent, bills, student loans and an unclear picture of our future. It was a number of factors and events that led us to search for an alternative path. Besides the un-holistic life style in the big city and deep dissatisfaction with our professional life, it was the terrifying state of modern ecology and economy that drove us to keep looking for an ultimate solution rather than a quick fix. This longing to do something different with our lives led us to Katherine Croll and Jeff Coleman and their project at Vista Hermosa farm. Here, at the farm, we now can live from the land and _give back to earth and society._

Why is this project so important to us

Looking from where our planet is right now, the future for all of us doesn’t look very promising. We are running out of all resources very fast. The world is now at the peak food, water and oil. Worldwide, as little as less than 30 years’ worth of farmable soil remains. If we don’t do something today, it may be too late tomorrow. Our food choices make the difference. We can grow our food in ways that heal the earth. We can chose to sustain ourselves while increasing the planet’s vitality.

Teaching The Grow Biointensive method we want people to learn how to grow food successfully, and we want to inspire people to transcend the mindset of perpetual consumerism and to evolve into the earth-conscious, self-reliable, rich, happy, and dignified life.

We want to cordially thank everyone and each of you for taking the time reading our story and for all your support.
Vista Hermosa Farm Team.
