VTO Weekly Covid Relief Food Bags
Tax deductible
Vista Teen Outreach is a 501 (3)(c) nonprofit that helps students in the Vista Unified School District that struggle with food insecurity. On fifteen Vista Unified campuses we provide food pantries, Thanksgiving and Spring Break food boxes, and weekly bags of supplemental food over the summer. We are also the only organization specifically serving middle school and high school students in our community.
Students across our community rely on our food pantries for sustenance during the school day and many also use our pantries to supplement food shortages at home. With the Covid-19 pandemic and the recent school closures students are not able to access these resources adding to an already precarious situation for many.
Vista Teen Outreach wants to continue to ensure that no student in our community is going hungry, even while schools remain closed. To do so, we have committed to provide the school district with 200 supplemental food bags on a weekly basis that will be distributed to families.
This is an unprecedented surge in our work to match an unprecedented need in our community. In a typical month Vista Teen Outreach spends $1,000 to stock our pantries and we are now spending $1,000 A WEEK for the unforeseeable future. These increased costs will deplete our yearly budget and reserves. So we are humbly asking for donations to help us continue to do our important work.
We understand that this is a difficult time for some families, so do not feel pressured, but if everyone pitches in just a little we can make sure that our community continues to thrive! With just $15 we can help provide food for one family for one week. Students cannot learn, let alone distance learn, while they are hungry. So let’s come together to make sure our students in Vista have the best chance possible to succeed! We couldn’t do it without you! Thank you.
