Dear Friends,
Scherezade and iliana emilia are excited to announce their upcoming exhibition Visual Memory: Home + Place at the Art Museum of the Americas in Washington, DC opening on September 26, 2019.
The exhibition Visual Memory: Home + Place examines the significant artistic practices of New York-based artists Scherezade and iliana emilia García. A mid-career survey, it explores how each artist reflects upon constructed notions of human geography and history in a creative multidisciplinary approach. Generating a provocative and incisive rethinking about the possibilities of visual memory they engage with timeless universal concerns and amplified question on global migration, settlement and the spaces we occupy.
Developed in close collaboration with the artists, Visual Memory: Home and Place features important works in a wide range of media—paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, and installations—some not previously shown.
The exhibition is accompanied by amply illustrated companion volumes with interviews and essays.
We invite you to be part of this exciting project by supporting our publications:
Scherezade García: From This Side of the Atlantic
iliana emilia García: The Reason/The Object/The Word
Your generosity will be acknowledged in the books. We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you in Washington, DC at the opening reception on September 26, 2019 at 6:00 pm. The invitation will follow shortly.
Gracias!
