Memoriam for Victor R Mera Sr.

Family, friends and all who have been part of Victor’s journeys...

It is with profound sadness we announce the loss of our beloved father, Victor Mera Sr, this past Friday, Feb 5, 2021. We as the immediate family are undergoing unprecedented challenges, and are humbly requesting financial support to help cover the cost of funeral services.  

For those who knew Victor Mera Sr., you knew he always put family first and in his highest regard. Victor was born in Ascope, Trujillo Peru, 1932.  The youngest son of twelve (12), he truly knew how to keep a smile on not only his face, but everyone else’s. He was the very definition of humble. He embodied humility every single day through action. Generous and kind to all he met, Victor achieved many milestones throughout his historic journeys. Anyone who’s ever met Victor would describe our father to you in similar, positive remark. He was simply larger than life. 

At an early age, he quickly grew fond of learning the English language.  This ultimately led to significant opportunities in his early career in Peru. 

Victor was an adventurer. He was the first of his family to immigrate to USA in 1959. He pioneered the path to the American dream for several of his family members.  

He was also known for his organ-playing, karaoke singing and storytelling. Often times creating voices, using hand gestures, and occasionally sound effects to entertain while he spoke. 

A beloved Father and husband , Victor leaves behind his 3 sons: Henry, Victor, and youngest son Roger; his Daughter Michelle; his beloved wife of 51 yrs, Julie; 3 grandsons, Dexter, Shane, Keanu; 3 grand daughters, Briseas, Cadence, Micaela; and 2 great grand daughters: Brooklyn & Ava.  

One of his final wishes was to be buried near his family at Green Hills Memorial Park.  We are currently working on organizing services for March.  If you are inclined to donate, there is no such thing as a donation too small, we will sincerely appreciate any and all as we understand we are all living through difficult times.

We want to thank everyone for all the kind words and support they’ve already shown us throughout these past few days.  It brings us so much comfort in knowing that he touched many of your lives. Although the pandemic separated our father from his youngest son the entire 2020 year, we know dad fully agreed and was proud of his son Roger's decision to remain in Peru in order to tend and care his newborn daughter Micaela. Victor’s heart was full of love until the very end. God bless you all

Con profunda tristeza anunciamos la pérdida de nuestro amado padre, Victor Mera Sr, el pasado viernes 5 de febrero de 2021. Nosotros, como familia inmediata, estamos atravesando desafíos sin precedentes y solicitamos humildemente apoyo financiero para ayudar a cubrir el costo del funeral servicios.

Quienes conocieron a Victor Mera Sr., sabían que él siempre puso a la familia en primer lugar y en su mayor consideración.  Víctor nació en Ascope, Trujillo Perú, 1932. El hijo menor de doce (12), realmente supo mantener una sonrisa no solo en su rostro, sino en el de todos los demás.  Él era la definición misma de humildad, encarnada su humildad en su acción todos los días.  Generoso y amable con todos los que conoció, Víctor logró muchos hitos a lo largo de sus viajes históricos.  Cualquiera que haya conocido a Víctor te describiría a nuestro padre con un comentario positivo similar.  Simplemente era más grande que la vida.

A una edad temprana, rápidamente se aficionó a aprender el idioma inglés.  En última instancia, esto lo condujo a oportunidades significativas en sus inicios de carrera en Perú.

Víctor fue un aventurero.  Fue el primero de su familia en emigrar a Estados Unidos en 1959. Fue pionero en el camino hacia el sueño americano “the American Dream” para varios miembros de su familia.

También era conocido por tocar el órgano, cantar en el karaoke y contar historias.  Muchas veces creando voces, usando gestos con las manos y ocasionalmente efectos de sonido para entretener mientras habla.

Víctor, padre y esposo amado, deja a sus 3 hijos: Henry, Víctor y su hijo menor, Roger;  su hija Michelle;  su amada esposa durante 51 años, Julie;  3 nietos, Dexter, Shane, Keanu;  3 nietas, Briseas, Cadence, Micaela;  y 2 bisnietas: Brooklyn y Ava.

Uno de sus últimos deseos era ser enterrado cerca de su familia en Green Hills Memorial Park.  Actualmente estamos trabajando en la organización de los servicios para marzo.  Si está dispuesto a donar, no existe una donación demasiado pequeña, apreciaremos sinceramente todas y cada una, ya que entendemos que todos estamos atravesando tiempos difíciles.

Queremos agradecer a todos por todas las amables palabras y el apoyo que ya nos han mostrado durante estos últimos días.  Nos reconforta mucho saber que tocó muchas de sus vidas. Aunque la pandemia lo separó de su hijo durante todo el año 2020, sabemos que nuestro papá estaba totalmente de acuerdo y orgulloso del decisión de su hijo Roger de permanecer en Perú para cuidar su hija recién nacida Micaela. Dios los bendiga a todos
