Vivian Robinson Black Theatre Express

Hi, My name is LaZette McCants; I am raising funds for VIVIAN ROBINSON BLACK THEATRE EXPRESS

Vivian Robinson was the founder of AUDELCO (Audience Development Committee, Inc.) developed to support, recognize and be proud of the Black Theatre Community. Vivian's dedication and accomplishments led to momentous fellowships, citations, proclamations and awards. Her most cherished being Black Theatre Network living Legend, Black Theatre Festival Lifetime Achievement and National Black Arts Festival Living Legend. She will never be replaced...the Friends of Vivian Robinson will continue her dream.

In 2012 as a tribute to Vivian Robinson, Mary B. Davis, Darsell Brittingham and LaZette McCants came together as Friends of Vivian Robinson (Friends…}. The group is committed to the vision, devotion and love of black theatre that is Vivian's legacy.

The group has grown to over 500 Black Theatre friends, patrons, and Torch Bearers for Black Theatre from its inception. At the 2019 Black Theatre Ceremony, longtime friends and Black theatre supporters Darsell Brittingham, Irene Gandy, Nobuko “Cobi” Narita and Fred Powell. Friends... continue to be actively involved in black theatre awareness and audience development.

Friends… has mounted this GoFundMe campaign to take groups to performances but see that guests get to the venue safe and sound. As the audience has matured and in this time of COVID-19, we are starting the Vivian Robinson Black Theatre Express with the miss of putting “butts in the seats”.

Friends…has been self-sustained for the past decade due to your support and individual donations. Funds from this campaign will be used to underwrite the cost administration and coordination of theatre groups and provide transportation that is clean, safe, convenient and dependable, based on need. This would include the time and location of performances. This effort could be compared to “get out the vote”.
