Help Brittney Beat Cancer

Brittney, a single mother of 2 (5 and 4 years old), our beloved bartender at Boston Pizza Orangeville and a supply EA for the Dufferin County School Board, was diagnosed with Nodular Sclerosing Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Being young, fit and healthy, this has come as a complete shock.

Three months ago, on Brittney’s daughter's 4th birthday, she found a swollen lymph node on her neck. For the past few months, she has had multiple doctor visits, x-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, and two inconclusive biopsies, all leading to a surgical biopsy to remove a lymph node so she could have the best chance of figuring out what is happening.

After the results came in, Brittney was sat down and had to listen to the doctor say those three words that stop your world in its tracks. You have cancer.

Fewer than 9000 new cases of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma are diagnosed each year, making it the least common of the four major types of blood cancer.

Brittney has been specifically diagnosed with Classical Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, stage 2A, unfavourable.

Brittney’s cancer has already affected four areas on her lymph nodes in her body. Both sides of her neck and upper chest. Due to her current state, her treatment plan is 4 months of ABVD chemotherapy and possible rounds of radiation if she does not respond well to chemo.

We, the Boston Pizza Orangeville Community, ask for your assistance to ease the financial burden as she won’t be able to return to work for a while as her immune system will be suppressed due to the treatment. While Brittney is an incredible and strong woman, we want her to focus on her health and not have to worry about her finances or any additional stress.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Brittney, she brings so much joy and light to everyone in her life. She approaches life with strength, love and optimism.
