Our gorgeous Sealyham terrier Fergus needs your help!
Donation protected

Hi everyone, Fergus needs our help! He’s a gorgeous 5yr old Sealyham terrier and has literally become disabled overnight! He has totally lost the use of his back legs over the Christmas period. He is a much loved family pet and we have had to face the prospect of losing him as we are struggling to be able to afford the care we know he deserves. Fergus is doing his best to get around the house using his front legs but it’s absolutely heartbreaking to watch and difficult to explain to our young children. Fergus absolutely loved his walks and is trying his best to be included in everything he loves around the house. We are helping him to use the toilet in the garden and we are at his beck and call with towels to keep him clean and safe. It’s so difficult to watch as he is still healthy other than his back legs. We have Fergus insured but the cover only goes up to £4000…he urgently needs an MRI scan and a possible operation on his spine if he has any chance of using his back legs again. If you could help Fergus out we would be so grateful and you literally would be a lifesaver!!!
You can follow Fergus at Fergus_the_Sealyham_ on instagram.
UPDATE!!! Fergus has just come home after a full afternoon in the vets. He is booked in tomorrow for his MRI and surgery. The estimated price is £6500 minus any complications so I am going to stop the funding! We have already funded just over a £1000 for previous diagnostics. So the total vet bills should be near £7500 of which £4000 should be covered by the insurance. If there is any money left then we need to decide what to do with it. We are happy for suggestions (sealy related) or to a general animal charity…let me know what you think on here or instagram.
I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who has donated and supported us and Fergus. You really all have been completely amazing and made our family feel very loved and overwhelmed with the generosity.
I’ll post more updates on here and instagram tomorrow xxxx
31.12.24 Fergus is out of surgery! Apparently it all went well though a little more complicated than what they thought. The vet said one of his discs in his back had fused to his spine and was causing pressure on it. They also removed a lot of excess tissue from around his spine. He has to stay in for a few days now and they are going to call with an update on his recovery in the morning. Once again we’d like to thank everyone who has supported us and to also wish you a very happy new year! X
01.01.25 UPDATE….Happy New Year!!! Ours has started on a positive one….we’ve had another call from the vets to say Fergus has had a good night and has shown some movement in both his back legs this morning! They are really pleased with how he’s doing up to now. He’s still scheduled to be coming back home on Friday x

Fergus is home! I went to collect him this morning. I first had a consultation with the vet who went through all of his MRI images and explained in detail about the problems and what they did to correct them. He must have been in a lot of pain. He was really pleased with how the procedure went and said Fergus was a great patient! We then went to see the nurse who had been looking after him, she was so kind and talked me though how to care for him at home, he is on a few different painkillers and we have to carry on with his physio routine too. She explained about using a sling to support his back end whilst walking around and what drugs to give him and when. She then went to collect him and I was amazed!!! She had to hold him back! His back legs were doing all the things they should’ve been (she took the weight) I was so pleased to see him and by the amount of licks I got I think the feeling was mutual…I would like to thank you all again for your support (I’m not sure we’ll ever be able to say enough thank yous) and I’ll keep updating on here until he’s fully fit again and walking independently xx
