Moving Expenses

Hi, I’m Christopher.

In January of 2021, my husband and I moved to Lakeland, Florida with our adoptive kid, Erik. Things were good. Charles got to retire properly and I began the long and arduous process of eventually opening my own business.

Needless to say, things have changed. Over the course of the last two years, the state of Florida has become increasingly hostile to LGBTQ+ folks, to the point where many of us no longer feel safe here. Charles and I are gay, Erik is non-bianary.

After a long family talk, we’ve decided that it’s time to go, while we can still get what the house is worth. I’ve financed most of the move with the small inheritance I got from my father, but it doesn’t cover everything, especially since the house’s AC died just days before one of the hottest recorded days in the state’s history.

So, I’m reaching out, hoping to get some help in covering the final expenses, namely the pickup and storage of our moving PODs, while we house hunt in Michighan, and the expenses related to getting our animals transported with us. (A dog and two cats. The pet mover requires a recent checkup and documentation that they’re safe to travel.)

The hope is, with your help, we’ll be able to get this move completed, safely, for everyone.
