Help Tux Get Into a New Home
Donation protected
Tux is a sweet dog who deserves a stable forever home. At only 16 months of age, he has been adopted from a shelter, escaped from his adopter's yard, then found and loved by a homeless woman, but he has now lost her too as she is now in prison. When contacted about Tux being found, his original adopter didn't want him back and so he is now entirely without a family available to care for him.
The homeless woman who loved him allowed me to take him to my vet before she was arrested. They had been caught out in the cold rain and it appeared Tux was sick. It ended up just being allergies, so I bought some Benadryl for him and tried to help the woman out a little bit too. Three days later, I was called by the Austin police to come pick up her dog, otherwise he was going to be impounded at the city shelter because his guardian was being arrested. I was the only person she trusted to care for him, but I could only promise her that I wouldn't let him be euthanised and that I would try to find a good home for him because I have no room to keep him myself.
This Go Fund Me is being set up to pay for heartworm testing and preventatives, since he wasn't on them while living on the street. He may need an Easy Walk Harness or a crate if his eventual foster home doesn't have that available already. If I cannot find a long term foster or permanent adopter, he will need to be boarded when I cannot find a temporary foster. Right now he is in my garage because the temperatures are unseaonably cool, but soon my garage won't be available as an emergency back-up.
If this fundraising produces more than what Tux needs to get into a permanent home, the left-over funds will be donated to Austin Pets Alive!'s Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (P.A.S.S.) program.
