A high school in New Jersey has decided that students having opinions on politics is bullying.
Bethany Koval, most well-known as @bendykoval on Twitter, is a 16 year old girl who harmlessly expresses her stances on political events online. After stating that she was Anti-Israel, her school decided they needed to step in.
Today, January 6, 2016, Bethany was called down to the principal's office where they interrogated her and intimidated her for her stance, calling it "bullying." She was denied the right to an attorney and FORCED to sign a statement. Bethany is a minor and all of this was done without a parent or guardian's approval.
This is all documented on video.
The school (Fair Lawn High School) is now threatening to sue Bethany for recording what happened, which again, is a direct violation of her rights. Her family cannot afford this.
We cannot allow this to happen.
Every donation, even a dollar, will help Bethany retaliate if her school should deside to sue. We have to take a stand and spread her story.
Please donate.
Update: my name is Noelle Holden, and I'm a close friend of Bethany's from Gilbert, Arizona. These funds are intended to go towards the money she will need to afford an attorney in case legal action is taken. HOWEVER, if she isn't sued, we've both decided to donate the money to a family in need who's gone through abuse and needs to escape a difficult situation. I've spoken to Bethany on the matter and she agrees - the money will provide rent for an apartment, new clothes, and other necessities this family might need. Either way, the funds will be going to a good cause. Thank you for reading!
