Helping the Sarver Family

Sunday February 11, 2024 wasn't just Super Bowl Sunday - it was the day that changed our lives forever. Elise went to the local ER with severe abdominal pain and distention, not knowing at all what was happening. She was transferred to the nearest "bigger" hospital. None of us really knew what that would entail, hoping that there was a possibility she would heal on her own. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with Acute Liver Failure with a prognosis of 90 days or less to live. She was then transferred to Duke University Hospital for the best medical treatment in our state. This is where we got the news that she would in fact, need a donor liver transplant to survive - instinct kicked in and she had an army behind her. We called in our family and closest friends, and wow...prayer warriors really stepped up (you know who you are ❤).

The news that a liver had come and we had a match was the most bittersweet news we'd ever received. We were happy that this meant Elise would have an extension on her young life, but were sad that someone had given the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you to the family that gave us this gift of life! The transplant took place in the early morning hours of Monday, March 4, the day after Ryland's 16th birthday. His birthday wish came true.... The surgery was a success!

Long story short, Elise is HOME, resting and healing as of Friday March 15. Eric has been by her side every step of the way - giving up his wages to support his wife. Elise will be unable to work until cleared by her transplant team. Your support would help with both of their lost wages and the medical bills that continue to pile up.
