Absolute Equality: Voices of Empowerment

Hi, I'm Reginald Adams, a public artist committed to honoring the legacies of trailblazing Black women leaders. By raising funds for the "Absolute Equality: Voices of Empowerment" mural, we aim to inspire future generations and celebrate the profound impact of Kamala Harris, Shirley Chisholm, Barbara Jordan, Sheila Jackson Lee, and Mary McLeod Bethune.

This 8' x 40' mural will be prominently displayed at Houston’s renowned “the breakfast klub” restaurant, serving as a powerful tribute to their contributions to social justice, civil rights, and political representation.

The significance of this mural project lies not only in its artistic expression but also in its educational impact. Each featured woman has played a crucial role in shaping American politics and advocating for marginalized communities.

Kamala Harris, as the first Black and South Asian Vice President of the United States, represents a new era of leadership and empowerment. Her journey exemplifies resilience and determination, inspiring young girls to dream big and pursue positions of influence.

Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to Congress, broke barriers with her slogan "Unbought and Unbossed." Her historic presidential campaign in 1972 paved the way for future generations of women and people of color in politics, demonstrating that courage can indeed change the course of history.

Barbara Jordan, known for her eloquence and integrity, was the first Black woman from the South elected to Congress. Her powerful advocacy for civil rights and her iconic speeches during the Watergate hearings continue to inspire advocates for social justice today.

Sheila Jackson Lee has been a dedicated public servant since 1995, championing issues such as education and healthcare reform. Her relentless pursuit of justice serves as a model for young leaders aspiring to create meaningful change in their communities.

Mary McLeod Bethune, an educator and civil rights leader, founded the National Council of Negro Women and served as an advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Her legacy emphasizes the importance of education as a tool for empowerment, motivating young girls to become leaders in their own right.

This mural will serve as an educational tool, celebrating these extraordinary women while inspiring future generations to engage in civic life and pursue leadership roles. We invite community members to contribute to this crowdfunding campaign to help bring this vision to life.

Together, we can empower our youth and ensure that the voices of these trailblazing women continue to resonate in the halls of power.

Make a contribution and let's make history through public art together!
