Voir Dire is a student short film and the inaugural production of the Broken Radiator Collective.
The story follows ex-chef and spiritualist Connie, who, upon returning from rehab, begins to rebuild her old friendships, one of which results in rekindling an old flame, Gayle. Shortly after, Connie is approached by Gayle's partner Petra, who tells Connie about their relationship, resulting in a conversation about who is truly at fault and how the three of them can move forward.
This film is a narrative-experimental hybrid, utilizing still images and evocative visuals to convey characters' inner thoughts beyond the limit of their words.
Where Your Donation Goes:
By donating to fund Voir Dire, your contribution will go towards many aspects of our filmmaking process, including art department and production costs (props, wardrobe, locations, etc.), cast & crew meals, and paying our actors. Especially amid the nationwide WGA and SAG strikes, it is more important than ever for us to make sure our actors are paid and everyone on set is well taken care of.

Because of the nature of our industry, much of our work is done for free and motivated simply by the desire to create art that we're proud of. It takes a village to put a film together, but cutting costs can lead to dangerous situations that can easily be avoided with the right amount of time and money.
What Is Broken Radiator:
The Broken Radiator Collective is a Chicago-based artist collective driven by the creation of a physical artist community across all mediums. We want to channel our artistic endeavors to push back against a culture of isolation and strive to feature works that examine the heart of human connection.
