Help Us Equip a STEM Centre to Empower Future Innovators and Close the Gender Gap in STEM!

Ricards Lodge High School is a proudly diverse all-girls comprehensive school, with a co-ed sixth form. We are committed to breaking down barriers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Many of our students come from underrepresented groups and are first-generation university applicants, and we are determined to give them the tools they need to succeed in fields where women remain vastly underrepresented.

Globally, women make up only 28% of the STEM workforce, and this gender gap limits not only opportunities for women but also innovation and progress for everyone. Research shows that more diverse teams drive better solutions and advancements, meaning that when women are excluded, society misses out on their talent and ideas.

The Department for Education (DfE) shares this vision by funding the construction of a brand-new STEM Centre at our school, but we need your help to raise funds for the essential equipment to fill it with education transforming resources. This includes advanced laboratory equipment like microscopes and molecular models, and technology such as 3D printers and Laser cutters, as well as mentorship opportunities with female STEM professionals for all ages. These tools will ignite curiosity, foster creativity, and help equip our students to lead in fields shaping the future. To give you an idea of what items cost:

£965 buys a model of the human skeleton

£2,500 buys a high quality 3D printer

We also have a range of smaller equipment such as safety mats, scissors, timers and drills to purchase, as well as stools, desks and display boards.
