Volunteer Adventures of Tay and Fi

Hello beautiful souls,

As you’ve got to know our story over the years, we are two 23-year-old women, both from the medical field, pursuing our dreams to become international volunteers and aid workers. Fiona has been a Registered Nurse for two years, whilst also studying Medicine to become a Doctor at the University of NSW. Tayla graduated from Queensland University of Technology in 2013 and has been a Registered Nurse for three years specialising in Gynaecology, Urology, Plastics/Reconstruction and ENT at the Mater Private Hospital, Brisbane. Together, we hope to bring our clinical skills, knowledge and enthusiasm for life in hope of making even the smallest of change to the health of those less fortunate than ourselves.

As of the 13th of January, we will be volunteering for four weeks at the TripleB Project Burns Clinic in Zambales, four hours North of Manilla, Philippines. This clinic is associated with Australian of the year, Professor Fiona Woods, a leading physician in burns medicine. This clinic assists children suffering immense burns/scarring obtained whilst in enslavement, cleft palate repairs, burn scar revision and infectious diseases. During this time, Fiona and I will be assisting in surgery and in the day-to-day tasks of the clinic.

We wanted to extend this opportunity to our family and friends to help us raise some much-needed funds for the clinic whilst also buying supplies and assisting in some of the associated travel expenses. Any amount great or small will be immensely appreciated.
