Volunteer Medical Mission to Guatemala
Donation protected
Update: New goal because my husband's work will donation match up to $2,000!! Thanks everyone for the momentum!! I'm raising funds to go on a medical mission to Guatemala this March. Donations pay for the various surgical supplies and medicines needed to run a week long surgery clinic, while volunteers pay their own trip costs. If you donate $60 or more, I'll make you a FESTIVE AF wreath!! (Limited to folks living somewhat local between Seattle-North Bend.) But any little bit of aid helps, and will make a huge impact, even if you could only contribute a few bucks! So your $5 will actually be $10, etc, due to employer donation matching!! There's about 100 volunteers, comprised of nurses, doctors, anesthesiologists and camp cooks, who all work nonstop 24/7 to help as many people as possible. Last year's trip provided 150 surgeries to people that live in remote mountain villages, and who don't have money to travel for medical attention. The trip is organized by Cascade Medical Team, which is a part of HELPS INTERNATIONAL. These pictures are by my friend Jessie Eisenmann who participated in a trip a couple of years ago, and who can attest to the tireless efforts of the organization to help as much as possible. It's not glamping, as volunteers are sleeping in shifts, on cots - using their own sleeping bags! More importantly though, it should be mentioned that the patients are often walking for miles to reach the clinic, and they are often camping around the clinic to wait for the chance to recieve treatment. Thank you for your support and kindness!!
