My Volunteer Trip

Dear Family and Friends,
I am planning a volunteer trip to Vietnam to help provide both dental and medical services to the underserved and indigenous population of these communities, and I need your help! I am teaming up with an organization called International Medical Relief, which organizes medical mission trips all around the world. I will be working alongside other qualified volunteers and medical professionals to provide healthcare in some of the most impoverished regions of this area. We will be providing humanitarian outreach to the physical needs of these people, and we will also provide them with hope through caring, compassion, and community health education.
Each one of us as team members will need to provide funds to cover not only our personal expenses but the expense of medical supplies as well, which is customary for trips such as these. I need your help in the form of donations! Specifically, donations will cover the expense of:
Travel
Lodging
Meals
Ground transportation
Translators
In-country support staff
Malpractice insurance
Medicine (such as vaccinations, antibiotics, etc.)
Supplies
Equipment
Training
The team will focus on acute medical and dental needs, as well as health education by providing classes on hand washing, oral hygiene, purification and storage of drinking water, family planning, safe sexual practices, choking, and pain management. As a dental hygienist, I will personally work in the dental clinic to provide patients with dental exams, cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatments, and assist with extractions and restorative work. The medical and dental clinics usually see a few hundred patients each day, most of which have never been examined by a medical doctor or dentist in their entire lives!
I would be forever grateful for any kind of donation that you are able to make, and I know the people of these communities will be forever grateful as well. The services and information we will provide to both the patients and the local healthcare community will be invaluable to them long after we leave.
