Volunteering with wildlife orphans in Zimbabwe
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Holly Norris. I am a final year BSc Equine Veterinary Nursing Science student who is volunteering Zimbabwe at ‘Free To Be Wild’ in April 2024. I will be there for 2 weeks helping to rescue and rehabilitate African primates.
Free to be Wild is a non-profit organisation that relies solely on donations from the public.
My role in the project will include:
• Daily food prep and feeding of all animals
• Bush walks with the orphans, stimulating them to explore their natural habitat
• Build toys, platforms and playgrounds
• Help nurture and raise orphaned wildlife
• Undertake snare sweeps and boundary patrols of release site
• Horse riding in release site
• Care for the permanent residents who can not be released
• Monitor released animals
To aid my fundraising I will be hiking up Snowdon twice in one day, for sunrise and sunset. The height of both hikes adds up to the height of the highest mountain in Zimbabwe which is Mount Nyangani at 2,592 meters high. All money raised will go towards the cost of the trip, and any extra will be donated to the sanctuary.
This trip means so much to me and every donation is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and I look forward to sharing my trip with you along the way!
