About
My name is Ciarán Ahern. I am a first-time candidate running in Dublin South West. I need your No. 1 Vote on February 8th.
My Priorities are:
Cycling and Transport
Children
Climate
Housing
Work Reform
Why should you support me?
I am a proud first time candidate in Dublin South West. I want to build on my track record of voluntary community work. I want to work for a kinder, fairer and more sustainable future for everyone in Dublin South West.
I understand the concerns of the people of Dublin South West. I have spent most of my life cycling the roads of the area and I am acutely aware of the need for safe cycling infrastructure. Housing is a crisis that has touched everyone, either personally or through friends and family. Climate change affects all of us but our response to this crisis can have positive impacts on Ireland such as smarter working and better public transport infrastructure.
I have been actively involved in the Dublin South West community all my life which includes:
- Community Representative on Ballyroan Boys NS Board of Management;
- Dublin Cycling Campaign activist;
- Canvassing for Together for Yes;
- Providing pro bono legal advice to numerous charities and at Free Legal Advice Centres (FLAC);
- Musician and former Secretary of Rathfarnham Concert Bank; and
- Coláiste Éanna Past Pupils Union.
I am also a founding director of the Rathfarnham-based charity, Calcutta Connect, which supports education in underprivileged communities in India. I also organize the Law Society's annual 'Calcutta Run' fundraiser for the Peter McVerry Trust and Hope Foundation, raising €300,000 for those who are homeless in Dublin and Calcutta in 2019 alone.
What will the funds will be used for?
All funds raised will be used exclusively for the campaign.
Please give whatever you can - every little will help!
