Help Dakota Walk With Rex

My name is Dakota Privette. I am 20 years old and I live in Rock Hill, SC. I am a twin born prematurely with cerebral palsy, severe scoliosis, and a collection of other health problems. When I was nine years old I had metal rods put in my back to hold my body up straight so that my lungs wouldn't be crushed. I had back surgery every six months until I was twelve and a permenant rod was put in. I have undergone painful hip and leg surgeries and even deep muscle injections. In the end, I was told that I would never walk.
It has been my dream to stand and walk for as long as I can remember. I refused to take no as an answer. I received a tablet for Christmas, and I spent day after day researching new technology to try to find the help I needed. A little over a year ago I found the Rex walking device. It was my dream come true! Robotic walking legs had been created!
The Rex was made in the UK and I learned that it was being brought to some US hospitals for a trial. I drove with my family eleven hours to Tampa, Florida and for the first time in my life, I stood up independently and walked!
My goal now is to raise $160,000 so that I can purchase a Rex once it is approved for home use in the US. I dream of walking around on my own and no longer feeling trapped in a wheelchair. I want to stand up on everyone else's level and be able to look them in the face. I am so thankful for this opportunity to walk.
