Get Michelle back on the road

It was last Thursday after a rainstorm and Michelle was almost home. Sitting at a red light a block-and-a-half from her house. The light turns green, and… a car slams into her from behind. Her car was pushed all the way across the intersection…. and totaled. The young man who was driving the other car stopped and gave his information and then left. He was not insured. 

Soon Marcus arrived and Michelle could let go and cry. And be taken care of, and taken to the hospital. Blessedly she was not seriously injured! It could have been so much worse. She is sore though, and will need some body work as she recovers from this accident.

But, her car, which she’d been nursing along for years, is completely totaled and not salvageable. She carried liability insurance but it's of no help in this situation. The other driver did express concern but has not been replying or providing any compensation.

Friends, we need to get Michelle back on the road with another reliable car! We need her in the world, at our dances and in our lives. She needs to be able to move through her life.

Can you help? We are aiming to raise $7,500.

This will cover the costs of temporary transportation And a small budget for bodywork. And enough to get her a modest, reliable vehicle to go forward with.

Other ways to help? Maybe you have a car she can borrow in the meantime? Maybe you know someone who is selling a good used car? Maybe you can send love and good intentions for the process to resolve easily and well?

It is not easy for Michelle to ask for help in this way. If you know her at all, you know that she is very comfortable when she’s giving love and support to others, and supporting the building of community. It is harder for her (and all of us?!) to be in the receiving role. But in acknowledging the reciprocal nature of community, she is humbly agreeing to this fund raising campaign.
