HELP DON BEAT WEST NILE!!!

Donation protected
Don Burton, a loving husband and father of four children, was admitted to the hospital on October 2nd, 2018 with West Nile encephalitis (an infection of the brain).  His 4th child was just 4 weeks-old. He spent 6 weeks in the ICU, unable to move or breathe on his own.  He was dependent on a ventilator (breathing machine) to help him get enough oxygen to live.  After several months and multiple medical complications, he was transferred to a rehabilitation center where he began to learn how to breathe on his own.  Eventually, he gained some strength in his arms and was able to drive a motorized wheelchair.  In January, he began to have slight movement in his legs.  Don's improvement meant he could no longer qualify to stay at the rehabilitation center. He was discharged to a skilled nursing facility to continue to receive medical care and rehabilitation.  He continues to work hard to get better, and very much wants to return to being the active husband and father that he once was.

Unfortunately, insurance is no longer able to cover the endless medical and rehabilitation needs. This will require enormous out-of-pocket expenses; a huge burden on his young wife and four children.  Don will return home soon and will require 24-hour care, a van to accommodate his wheelchair, a hospital bed, and some remodeling to his home to make it accessible. He will also require outpatient therapy to continue to re-learn how to talk, walk, and use his arms and hands.  The challenges of working a full-time job, caring for their four children, and addressing the financial and medical needs of Don has become increasingly difficult for this young family.

Therefore, I am appealing to you (yes you, reading this) to support this wonderful family through this difficult time and to keep his wife, Beth and their children in your prayers. No donation is too small or too large.

The Burtons have been humbled by the outpouring of support they have received from the community over the past several months through gifts, meals, favors, and prayers. They hope to pay it forward once Don has recovered.
