Lorne 160 2024 - Geelong Youth Engagement

Hello everyone,

Welcome to this years 2024 Lorne 160 fundraising page. We are very excited to announce that this year’s charity is called the Geelong Youth Engagement.

As a group of school kids, we collectively agreed that we feel a strong connection to helping the troubled youth in Geelong. We wanted to align ourselves with all that the Geelong Youth Engagement program entails because we believe in their values and want to help them reach their goals as a successful program. Geelong Youth Engagement is a group of local businesses, government organisations, and community focused groups that have formed to support youth from Geelong, Bellarine, and Surf Coast communities through multiple youth focused programs. They aim to increase self-confidence, build resilience, and create engagement for a bright future as they develop into young adults.
Globally, it is estimated 1 in 7 10–19-year-olds experience mental health conditions, yet these remain largely unrecognised and untreated. The support the program shows to children our age, older and younger to facilitate behavioural changes and empower youth to launch into successful adulthood and reach their potential is crucial as every young person should have that chance. It has developed to support young people facing challenges from the ages 12-18yrs through their multiple youth programs including the Geelong Kokoda Youth Program which has been running since 2013.

Geelong Youth Engagement is committed to providing a safe and friendly service for all children and young people; including those who are of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent, from culturally and/or linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, and those living with a disability.

GYE will endeavour to actively listen and respond to the voices of children and young people, there is zero tolerance of any abuse or mistreatment of children and young people and have in place the necessary policies, procedures, and practices to support the safety of children and young people under their care.
For these reasons any donations would be greatly appreciated by all our Lorne 160 team, whether they are great or small.
