Rowyn's Smackdown Against Neuroblastoma #Rally4Rowyn

The Bolinger Family is going through the unimaginable with their 3 year old, princess loving daughter, Rowyn. They are ready to fight as a family and kick cancers ass!

On December 19 after a visit to the pediatrician for what they thought was reoccurring pneumonia the day before, they landed in CHOC Emergency Department with Rowyn. Kelly’s mom gut was firing off and they wanted an X-ray of her chest to make sure that they were on the right treatment plan. They found out via nasal swab that Rowyn actually had RSV and rhinovirus, not pneumonia. However, her chest X-ray showed an incidental (accidental) finding of a very large mass/tumor on the right side of her chest cavity. Things moved fast from here. What they thought would be a seemingly quick ER visit turned into the unimaginable. They were admitted to the Oncology floor immediately and Rowyn started getting worked up for what this mass could be. She has undergone a CT scan, Biopsy, and MRI thus far.

On December 30, 2024. Rowyn is diagnosed with Intermediate-Risk Neuroblastoma. Pediatric Cancer️, every parents worst nightmare.

With “stone cold perfect blood work and lab results”, normal vital signs, and absolutely no symptoms Royce and Kelly sat in a room at the Oncology Clinic with their healthy wild girl and listened while her oncologist told them that it was by the grace of God they discovered this mass. Clinically she has an immaculate bill of health, so if Kelly and Royce had not asked for a chest x-ray on December 19 there would have been zero indication that the “C” word was in her precious and innocent body.

The Bolinger's world has flipped completely upside down. Their hearts are utterly shattered. How could this be happening to her?? Why?? And yet, they feel peace, hope, and so much strength for their girl.

The desired treatment for this specific diagnosis was that they would be able to surgically remove her mass and be done. However, with the location of where Rowyn’s mass is and the organs it is next to, that plan has proven to be a bit more risky and unfavorable than they would like. Their miraculous Rowyn is unfortunately going to have to endure a few rounds of chemotherapy to try and shrink the mass and make it easier + safer to remove. So.. WE ALL FIGHT WITH THEM!

As we all know, there are a lot of unknowns for the Bolinger Family as they help their little girl battle cancer. We have had so many people reach out to us and Kelly/Royce about supporting their family during this time. As you can imagine, treatment and medical expenses are incredibly expensive. Here are some ways you can currently be praying for the Bolinger Family:

• Prayers for quick healing and that chemo shrivels this dumb thing up and they can get it out of her asap *safely*, making her cancer free.

• Pray that the side effects of chemotherapy are not too harsh on Rowyn’s sweet body.

• Pray for her medical team. May her doctors, nurses, and surgeons see God moving in her story/diagnosis. Give them healing hands and clear minds for Rowyn’s care/treatments/plan.

• May the Bolingers feel God’s presence with them every step of the way.

God is still so good, even when things don’t seem so good. God led them to this finding when they may have had no other way of knowing it was there. We know He will lead them through this too, for He has big plans for Rowyn and her life way past this diagnosis. Thank you for your support!

THE BOLINGERS TAKE THE BIG APPLE!️

When Royce and I walked out of the appointment after Ro was diagnosed with cancer, we promised each-other one thing. It didn’t matter how we would do it or where we had to go, we were going to take our little girl to the best place in the world for treatment. The days following her diagnosis were NYE and NYD, so we couldn’t make any moves. After many sleepless nights, immense research, tons of praying, and reaching out on a whim to other neuroblastoma families we knew exactly where we wanted to be. Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City! Thursday morning we started making calls at 5am, by 11am we had a telehealth with the MSK peds onc surgical team, and by 11:45am the goose’s care was fully transferred! We were wheels up by Sunday night. Packing up our life in 72hrs and moving across the country was not on my 2025 bingo card.. but hey, neither was my three year old having cancer.

Thank you to our army of real life angels who made this possible! Our parents who rallied around us like no other, my mom who literally moved to NYC with us to help with Austyn, @_brennagarcia @markkieg + @jacquiesparks @malakaisparks who took our kids in as their own at the drop of a hat so that we could get things done, @mere.cuilla and hannah who made port access princess dresses for Ro before we were wheels up, @joyfulnoisespreschoolhb for taking Ro’s pet fish, @merrymedvec for keeping Max, the @anthony_rizzo_familyfoundation for being beyond supportive and generous to us through this tough time, @candlelightersnyc for already making us feel like family, @demdemjanewatters for being the best inside nyc advisor & delivering food to our hotel for the girls, the amazing neuroblastoma warrior moms who have already walked in our shoes and took time to talk to me in depth, and so so so many others.
