Stoops

As you know, I never like asking for help; but this is for Stoops who I love more than anything.
I’ve had Stoops since she was a puppy; small enough to fit in my hand. I named her after my mom would yell at me as she would run the house begging for food. She would yell “Joshwaaa your dog is stupid.” Hence, I declared her Stoops (that and it’s a Hey Arnold throwback). She’s been there for me for the last 12 years. She’s seen me graduate college, stayed with me during my entire six-year tour in the military and is now living with me and putting up with my wook life. She’s my best friend, my daughter, and my world.
About a month ago, I noticed a couple of small tumors forming around Stoops’ abdomen. She’s had one previously that appeared in same area three years ago. Thankfully, the old one was declared benign and the doctor recommended we leave it since it caused no discomfort and that she was a relatively older dog. After noticing these new tumors, I immediately took her to a clinic near my house. The vet examined her and performed an x-ray to see if more had formed in other areas that weren’t visible. Thankfully, the results were good. These tumors were the only ones found and they were isolated to her mammary glands. I was informed this is common in dogs that aren’t spayed; especially at her age. The vet then suggested we perform surgery to spay her and remove the tumors. I agreed without hesitation despite the pretty hefty cost of $2,500.
After the agreement, the vet performed a quick blood test to make sure she would be okay for the procedure. The results showed that both her protein and iron counts were low. We reconfirmed this three weeks later with another blood test. The doctor said she was anemic and they are unsure what is causing it. Tomorrow, she goes in for an ultrasound to see if they can get any better ideas. My fingers are crossed that it’s not anything serious. If they can treat this and get her red blood cell count higher, she can then go in for surgery to remove the tumors.
Luckily, as of right now, you can’t even tell Stoops is sick. She’s still running around, begging and whining for food. I would like to keep her as spoiled as possible for many more years to come.
Again, I hate asking, but If you could donate anything at all to help with the costs, it would be greatly appreciated. I feel so bad doing this but I will definitely suck up my pride to make sure Stoops has the best treatment possible. Thank you babes so much.
