Help Brooks Get Top Surgery

Hey y’all, it’s Brooks.

As many of you may know, I’ve been on a journey of self-actualization over the past two years. A vital part of this has been my medical transition, which has allowed me to live a life that I once thought was out of my reach. However, there is one aspect of my physical appearance that has hindered me greatly in feeling “at home” in my body and causes my chronic pain to worsen. I need top surgery.

Living life as an “out” trans person is difficult for a myriad of reasons, but my brain-to-body disconnect is often unbearable. In addition to this, I often can’t navigate public spaces comfortably because even when I bind (which is painful and tiring) my chest is still extremely visible.

I recently met with a surgeon about the physical process for top surgery, as well as what will be required financially. The total cost will be $8,500, needing to be paid in full at least a week before the procedure. I will also be unable to work for six weeks following, which is why the goal is a little higher than the cost of surgery, as I will need funds for my rent and food.
